Dec 14 ~ Day 348 - Wedding preparations are on

Took this picture 10 days ago. Remember, I mentioned on of my youngest aunts is getting married. On the day of lagna patrika ceremony, there was another ceremony which officially kick started the wedding preparations. During this ceremony, turmeric is beaten to start teh wedding preparations. Turmeric is considered very auspicious in hindu culture and wedding preparations are kick started with powdering turmeric in to fine powder, using a motor pesto.

Dec 7 ~ Day 341 - Goldsmith's workshop

I wanted to exchange a pair of old bangles for new ones. The jewelry did an instant purity test on the bangles and concluded that the bangles contained only 75% pure gold. I refused to exchange the bangles. He suggested we get the gold tested with the goldsmith next door. We got small piece of the bangle tested and it was almost 84% pure. The lesson learned was, although the jewelers say the ornament is 22k, 92% pure, most of the them use only 85% gold.

Nov 30 ~ Day 334 - Nostalgia

Another picture from my cousin's farm. I got back from Karimnagar Monday itself.  His farm made me nostalgic and brought back memories of my maternal grandma's village.  Hence posting more from his farm house.

We use to see many bullock carts when growing up. Nowadays, these carts are no where to be seen even in the villages. These carts were primarily use to transport grains and pulses from the fields. There were different bullock carts to transport people.

This day, last year: Bowl of boiled milk
