It rained most of the day and the sun came out just before sunset. I was able to capture glimpses of sunset thru the city skyline. Rays of sun reflecting on the buildings.

Starting today, I am doing my Project 365 along with Project 365 Group. A theme for the is emailed every day and we need to click a picture based on the theme. Today is Day 1. I think I will do 30 days and see how it goes with the group. If I like it, I will continue with the group.

I bought these flowers almost ten days ago. I put a few flowers in a vase and the rest, I pluck them off the stem and put them in a bowl of water. They still look fresh. I took the picture in the night.

Jan 11 ~ Day 11 - Hot dog cart

I wanted to post a hot dog picture for Sruti as she was missing NYC hot dogs. She left a comment here. I confess, I have not eaten a hot dog in NYC streets. I considered buying one today, but could not get myself to do so. Hence the picture of the cart.

Jan 10 ~ Day 10 - Food on the street: Nuts 4 Nuts

In the city, one can find Nuts 4 Nuts cart every 3-4 blocks. They sell sweetened nuts and they are pretty tasty! In this picture, you can see the nuts roasted in sugar syrup, tiny packets of roasted nuts and finished roasted sweet nuts. They sell sugared cashews, almonds, peanuts and coconut pieces. I wish they also sell savory nuts.

This cart vender was find enough to let me take a picture while he was preparing the nuts.

Jan 6 ~ Day 6 - Our lunch,..

Rather my athamma's lunch for the tithi. As I mentioned in my last post, it was my MIL's tithi. On the menu was shrimp curry was her favorite, chikkudukaya kura, tomato shorva with lima beans and carrot kheer. I also planned on making peraru garelu or mong dal vadi but I goofed up the preparation and could not make it on time before lunch.

Jan 5 ~ Day 5 - Vegetables for the priest

According to telugu calendar, tomorrow is my athamma's / mother-in-law's tithi, passing away anniversary. We perform a small ritual and then these vegetables, rice and some spices are offered to the priest.  In olden days, priests cooked their own food and hence were given enough ingredients and produce for one meal. The tradition is still followed.

I did my groceries today bought the veggies for the priest.  If you are wondering what those vegetables are, top left is a bag of beans, top right is a bag of okra, bottom right are tomatoes, bottom left are brinjals/eggplant and in the middle is pumpkin.

I am always fascinated by these pigeons circling the sky. Every morning, it is such a lovely site watching these birds from living room. I already posted one picture of these birds and this picture is lot closer than the older picture.

Jan 1 ~ Day 1 - Welcomed the year with a book

Wish you all a Happy New Year! On the first day of the year, I started reading this book. I was hoping the reading continues all year, but unfortunately, I read only 3 pages and put the book aside.. :(

As I mentioned in my last post, I started my P365 in April of 2010 and hence will continue to post till April of this year, to complete 2 years of P365. After that, I don't know if I will continue this project. I hope the warm weather will motivate me to do it till the end of the year.
