Yesterday it was gloomy and rained most of the day. We had planned to go to a movie but stayed back home as it was raining. I was bored and baked these crackers to keep myself busy. The recipe coming up soon on the is up on the food blog. I am not going to use this photo for the food blog and thought of posting it here to keep this blog active. :) And yeah, these days this space has become a bump yard for all my unused food pictures :p Picture of the day in 2013: Glass # 1 Picture of the day in 2011: Towed awayPicture of the day in 2010: It was..
Yesterday I went producing picking with a bunch of my blogging friends. I did not pick up much but had a gala time meeting them and picking produce with them. It was fun! Picture of the day in 2011: Reading an ebookPicture of the day in 2010: A recipe from Telugu newspaper
I have fallen way behind on my Project 52 Weeks themes. This week's theme is catching up. I did week #32, imitating or interpreting an artist and the artist is Elliott Erwitt. My picture is no where close to his work but one of his subjects is children. I took this picture of the little girl near the pond in Central Park. Thank you for the pose, little girl! Day 5 of 30DBFP - Task was to fill the photo frame and decide on the vertical or horizontal frame. I chose vertical frame as I had very few elements in the frame. I signed up for 30 days to better food photos (30dbfp) project. This picture is part of that project. Whenever I post a picture from that project, I shall mention it. Coming to the greens in the picture, today I was at a farmers market in Union Square and found some purslane, also known as gangavalli kura in Telugu. I made some dal with it. Bowl of dal in the background is gangavalli kura pappu. One of my blogging friends shared these cookies she baked for an event. The mystery is what are these cookies made of? We need to wait until she posts the recipe. Produce from Union Square farmers market. It was closing time when I got there and there wasn't much to buy. These onions caught my eye, so fresh and straight from the farm. I did not buy anything except some blueberries. Camera: iPhone Picture of the day in 2012: Day 5 of explorationPicture of the day in 2011: CookiesPicture of the day in 2010: Chrysler building
Northen Thai Chicken Curry was our dinner last night but did not like how it turned out. It was different from most of the Thai curries I have tasted. It tasted more like an Indian chicken curry. It is not going on my food blog.. :(
I have neglected this space for too long and am kind of missing it; clicking and uploading pictures here. I have also fallen behind in my weekly themes. For some reason I lost interest in clicking for this blog. Although I lost interest in photography in general, I do click pictures for my food blog. So will post some of the those pictures here to motivate myself to revive this space. Whenever the watermark has myspicykitchen, means the picture was taken for my food blog and the recipe is on my food blog or will be update very soon.
I don't like too many props in the frame. Frame looks crowded and cluttered. Can find the here recipe here. Camera: Nikon 5100 Picture of the day in 2012: Cup of JoePicture of the day in 2011: Squirrel on the Tree
For this theme, we look at some of the old pictures and see the improvement in our photography so far. The last picture is from week 3 of last year. I used the same subject and background that I used a year ago. I do not know how the weather was on that day but today it is a cloudy day. Looking at last year's picture, I am guessing it was a sunny day. Back then I knew my camera had a White Balance setting but did not know how to use it effectively. I always used auto WB. Now I rarely use auto WB for my food photography. I still struggle with it a bit and at times when I am not sure which settings to use, I try both sunny & cloudy setting. Today although it was cloudy, I liked the pictures with sunny WB. Since it was a cloudy day, I used card boards as reflectors to bounce back the light on to my subject. Below picture is with same setting as above with a different background.
I am late updating the blog. I am continuing my photo project this year and just like last year, I am doing project 52 weeks. I don't think I have enough motivation nor the energy to do project 365 this year. After doing it for almost 3 years, it is no longer interests me. More than the interest, project 365 needs lot of dedication, discipline and focus to stay on track. I do not want to start a project and give it up half way thru. As it is I missed last couple of weeks of my P 52 weeks last year. At least this year, I intent to be on track and reach the finish line.
This year I am doing two project 52 weeks simultaneously and also a project 12 months. The first project 52 weeks is with the same group I did last year with general themes every week. Project 12 months is with the same group with a monthly theme. We decided to have a weekly & a monthly theme to make it easy on members who have a busy schedule yet want to continue photography the project.
The second project 52 weeks is food styling 52 weeks. All the pictures in this project are only food picture. Since I more interested in food photography, I am more excited about this project than the other two.
